Book Spotlight: Summer NIghts (Fool's Gold #8) by Susan Mallery

New York Times bestselling author Susan Mallery's newest Fool's Gold story proves that wild hearts cannot be tamed... Horse whisperer Shane Stryker is done with passion. This time around, he's determined to meet someone who will be content with the quiet life of a rancher's wife. And the fiery, pint-size redhead who dazzles him at the local bar definitely does not fit the bill. Small-town librarian Annabelle Weiss has always seen herself as more of a sweetheart than a siren, so she can't understand why Shane keeps pushing her away. Shane has formed the totally wrong impression of her but only he can help her with a special event for the next Fool's Gold festival. And maybe while he's at it, she can convince him to teach her a few things about kissing on hot summer nights, too-some lessons, a girl shouldn't learn from reading a book!
From Goodreads.com

Let me start out by saying that this is my favorite Fool’s Gold novel! I fell in love at the first pages and couldn’t put it down till the end. (I even love this cover the best! Look at those colors).

We met Shane in Summer Days (Review here) and I knew he would be an amazing character. He’s the middle brother, the guy with the horses, the gorgeous cowboy with a beautiful heart. (Seriously, this man is worthy of serious swoonage. The 911 calling type of swoonage). He’s been hurt before so when he sees Annabelle he’s smitten but completely cautious. He wants a quiet, reserved girl this time around, so why can’t he get Annabelle out of his mind?
Annabelle is Fool’s Gold librarian. She is the quiet, reserved type, except for that one night when she decided to prove a point. Little did she know, the man that captures her heart saw her wild side, and now things she’s too wild for him.
Shane and Annabelle’s relationship is outstanding. This book made me laugh and cry and cry from laughing so many times. The tension between the two is so thick and powerful it should be illegal to pollute the atmosphere that way. Susan is an artist with her relationships. Every person in this book is important and amazing. She has a way even with her secondary characters that makes you root for them.
In conclusion, this is my favorite Fool’s Gold novel! Wait, I think I may have said that already. Well, it’s so good it was worth saying twice. And maybe three or four times as well. Susan does not disappoint. If you enjoy a beautifully crafted romance, with characters that touch your heart, Summer Nights is for you!
Out today! Get it, read it, love it!
Happy reading,

Happy (2nd) Birthday Simplicity!!!!!

Hello lovelies,
Can you believe it? It's that time again!!! No, not Christmas, sheesh. Oh, wait, come back don't leave! Even though its not Christmas it's still a day of celebration!!! Simplicity (the new and revamped version) is out in the world today!
Serious EXCITEMENT!!!
You guys probably think I'm nuts, and that's okay with me. The thing is, which I've said before, Simplicity is my baby. I never thought she'll see the light of day or that I'd be sharing Alexis and Jake's story with anyone beside my immediate family. Sure, I had no idea what I was doing when I agreed to publish Simplicity or how the publishing world worked. But here's the thing, you live and you learn.

Today, I am celebrating the fact that I LIVED and I LEARNED!
On the other hand, I'm feeling a bit like this...
My thoughts are: "What if no one reads it?" or "What if everyone hates it?" For me, it feels like Simplicity is out for the first time, taking those first steps, ever.

What I'm trying to say is that even thought this is the re-release of Simplicity, it's important to me. I wanted to share that feeling of excitement and importance with you. Simplicity is not like the YA books I'm working on right now. It's a story, a romance, a journey of self discovery that we all go through even though we may not end up on a deserted island to do it.
No, not that one! (However, I'm watching Lost for the first time ever. I'm on season 3 and LOVING it! No spoilers please) :-)
But that's not the point. The point is, I hope you read Simplicity and I hope it touches your heart.

You can get your own copy at Amazon
(please, pretty please, do ;-)

Hugs,
Valia

P.S. If you do purchase Simplicity, make sure to keep your receipt handy! The blog tour has some surprises in store for you :-) <3 <3 <3

Book Spotlight: Forgiven by Jana Oliver & Giveaway!

The days are growing darker for 17-year-old demon trapper Riley Blackthorne. With her father’s reanimated body back safely, Beck barely speaking to her because of a certain hunky Fallen angel, and a freshly-made deal with Lucifer, she has enough on her hands to last a normal teenage lifetime. Though she bargained with Heaven to save his life, her ex-boyfriend Simon has told the Vatican’s Demon Hunters that she’s working with Hell. So now she’s in hiding, at the top of everyone’s most-wanted list.
But it’s becoming clear that this is bigger than Riley, and rapidly getting out of control:  something sinister is happening in Atlanta… or someone. The demons are working together for the first time ever and refusing to die, putting civilians in harm’s way. Riley thinks she might know who’s behind it all, but who’s going to believe her? Caught between her bargain with Heaven and her promise to Lucifer, Riley fears the final war is coming – and it may be closer than anyone thinks…
From Goodreads.com
I have to start out saying that I absolutely adore this series. I was late coming to the party because I didn’t read book one until after book two was already out. I literally flew through both books and couldn’t wait to read book three!!! St.Martin's Griffin was kind enough to send me a copy and oh my goodness the book is amazing!!!

We start out where we left off in Soul Thief. Riley is dealing with her dad being back, Beck driving her crazy, and being a warrior for Heaven and a having made a deal with Hell. There is so much going on in this book, I don’t even know where to start. Riley is a kick butt, complex kind of a character with a heart earning for love. She goes through so many trials, being constantly pushed from every side. I love watching her develop as a daughter, a trapper, and a woman.
Beck, oh my holy smoking bacon, Beck!!!!!! His character is one of my favorites, as of late. I really can’t get enough of him. His character develops so much in this book. He grows as an individual, as a trapper, and as a man. There is so much about him we still don’t know, but we catch glimpses in this book. The relationship Riley and Beck have in this book is amazing. I love Jana’s way of writing relationships, especially this one. There is just something so beautiful about these two. They’re both so broken, so in need of each other, and so perfect together.
Jana created a world thats full of action, kick butt characters, and relationships that mirrors the real things in life. I love how real these books are despite the fact that its a world created on paper. My only complain is the ending! I can’t believe that cliffhanger! I need book 4 now! Forgiven is out today! Get it, read it, love it!
Now, for the special little surprise! I have a giveaway for you! Thank you to the wonderful St. Martin’s Griffin for the book!

Happy reading!! I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Book Spotlight: Pretty Crooked by Elisa Ludwig (Debut)

Willa’s secret plan seems all too simple: take from the rich kids at Valley Prep and give to the poor ones.

Yet Willa’s turn as Robin Hood at her ultra-exclusive high school is anything but. Bilking her “friends”-known to everyone as the Glitterati-without them suspecting a thing, is far from easy. Learning how to pick pockets and break into lockers is as difficult as she’d thought it’d be. Delivering care packages to the scholarship girls, who are ostracized just for being from the “wrong” side of town, is way more fun than she’d expected.

The complication Willa didn’t expect, though, is Aidan Murphy, Valley Prep’s most notorious (and gorgeous) ace-degenerate. His mere existence is distracting Willa from what matters most to her-evening the social playing field between the have and have-nots. There’s no time for crushes and flirting with boys, especially conceited and obnoxious trust-funders like Aidan.

But when the cops start investigating the string of burglaries at Valley Prep and the Glitterati begin to seek revenge, could he wind up being the person that Willa trusts most?

Review:

As soon as I saw the cover and synopsis for Pretty Crooked I had to get my hands on it. I love Robin Hood type of stories and Pretty Crooked didn’t disappoint.

The story starts out with Willa running for her life and thinking about everything she’s done. Then we flashback to her first day of school and that’s where the story begins. Willa is a fun character to read and explore with. She has many tough decisions in front of her and she tackles them one at a time. She meets lots of interesting people at her school, including a trio of mean girls, a rich bad boy with a bad reputation and a gorgeous prankster Aiden. I liked Willa’s development throughout the story. She decides on the whole Robin Hood ploy and she runs with it. I also like Aiden, a lot! That boy can make anyone blush. Their relationship is sweet and fun, loaded with obstacles. The last chapter is probably one of my favorites in the whole book. We’re left with so many unanswered questions I was mad at the end of the book. Well, maybe not mad mad, but no, you know what yes, mad mad! I turned the page and “NO! You cannot do that to me you evil author!”
Overall, Pretty Crooked is a fun interesting YA Debut. Elisa crafted a story that is entertaining and meaningful. I really enjoyed reading it and I cannot wait to see what happens next. Pretty Crooked is out today!
PS. Would love to hear your thoughts!
Happy Reading,
Valia
